The Atlanta Opera
Social Media

The 2017-18 season
is designed to bring some of the grandest, most exciting operas in the repertoire to our mainstage, alongside rarities that have never been seen before in Atlanta.

We open with Richard Wagner’s
The Flying Dutchman. This ghost story of love and redemption between phantom sailor and fair maiden will be a brand new production. In February, Donizetti’s delightful The Daughter of the Regiment sparkles with slapstick comedy and mythic vocal gymnastics. In May, we present one of the most seductive and beguiling operas of all time, Georges Bizet’s Carmen. We close our season with Sondheim’s dark and witty musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

As ever, our
Discoveries series packs a powerful punch for those seeking something new and different. In October, we move into an intimate cabaret for Kurt Weill’s rarely performed masterpiece The Seven Deadly Sins. In April, we present the company world premiere of Jake Heggie’s Out of Darkness: Two Remain, a riveting two-act opera about persecution and hope during the Holocaust, produced in partnership with Theatrical Outfit’s Tom Key. Because the Discoveries series sells out in a matter of days, we are giving our most loyal subscribers an opportunity to purchase tickets before they become available to the general public. Subscribe today to be sure you get tickets to the Discoveries series!
